How It Got Started

The cost of textbooks can be crippling to our students, using Open Education Resources (OER) in your courses may be just the assistance students need to be more successful. These FREE learning resources help students have all the materials they need on the first day of class, and often, students can take an extra class if they don’t have to worry about the additional cost of a textbook.

Pick a course that may be conducive to using OER. The library staff will help guide you through the OER repositories and technology available to you to find and create OER for your course.  You don’t have to go “all in” right at the beginning. Perhaps there is a unit or module where you could use OER just to get your feet wet.

Adapting to the use of OER is a significant step in advancing our efforts for serving our students in the best way possible.
